Quinta de Freitas is our "tranquil abode" where we will make you feel relaxed, at home and most of all, ensure your holiday needs are met.

The Quinta is a home run by Nelson who was born in Madeira and emigrated to South Africa before coming back to run the Guest House he built 16 years ago. He is in his fifties and has a daughter in South Africa.

The Quinta has several additions to make you feel at home, a small friendly dog & cat and several exotic birds which Nelson breeds.

His family pop in from time to time, so hopefully you will get to meet them and experience the real Maderian hospitality.

He tries where possible to make your stay a most hospitable one, but should you have any special needs or requirements, please let him know at the time of booking, and he will endeavour to accommodate you.

One of Quinta's main features is its gardens, which encompasss the whole of the property. With rare and exotic planting due to the fine Madeiran weather Quinta de Freitas is a spectacular scene. All year round the gardens bloom with colour, from Estrelicia's to Bouganvilla.

To the rear of the house, the Quinta is able to produce most of its own fruit eaten at breakfast, with a small orchard of fruit trees,oranges, naartjies, mangoes, custard apple trees, sugar cane and figs. Do feel free to take one straight from the bunch.

The Quinta is also host to many rare and beautiful antiques from all over Portugal. Fine craftsmanship can be seen on many of the pieces especially the 12 seater dining table which greets you on arrival into the house.

This is a home, and a such you are made to feel at home, Nelson would like to make it clear it is not a show house but a comfortable and relaxing home and wishes you to enjoy and appreciate the many fine objects.

The Quinta is your home during your stay and Nelson will be more than happy to give you advice and assistance at anytime.
